Oleander Villa,Spartia,Kefalonia,Greece -Villa page

Oleander Villa is situated in the traditional Greek village of Spartia in the Livatho region only a few miles south east of the airport. The village centre is slightly inland (5 mins drive) from the small sheltered south facing sandy bay and harbour. Larger sandy beaches can be reached by car within 15 minutes.

Walking:
2 mins to a snack bar
20-30 mins walk (estimate) down the steep winding road to the beach (wouldn't recommend walking back up!)
5 mins to the village centre there is:
2 mini markets
3 restaurants
large church in the square (many smaller ones doted around the village)

By car:
Spartia beach & harbour with restaurant 'Waterway' (very scenic setting) - 2kms
Pesada (catch the ferry to Zante) - 10 minute drive
Kefalonia Airport - 7 kms
Argostoli Port & town - 10 kms
Sami Port and Town - 12 kms
Poros Town - 12 kms

^ Out & about ^

To really appreciate this wonderful island, car hire is recommended.

Mount Ainos is the place to go to view the beautiful Island of Kefalonia (see if you can spot Oleander Villa
from the summit!)
The main routes up the mountain have very good roads (for Greece, anyway), but if you want to go off the beaten track there's plenty of opportunity to do so with many a windy bumpy track to explore, we've done it in a small Panda car but I think really a 4 wheel drive is recommended for that!

^ Beaches ^

Kefalonia has many wonderful beaches and no two alike!
Here are a few that we have used, therefore we can recommend you drive to.
( There are many more on the island.)
Spartia - 5 mins - small, sandy, rocks, gentle sloping sea bed, safe for kids.
Trapezaki - 10 mins - has 3 coves, sandy, gentle sloping sea bed, safe for kids, beach bar.
St. Thomas beach near Karavados - 10 mins - 2 sandy coves, rocks, gentle sloping sea bed, 3 restaurants.
Lourdas - 15 mins - long fine sand/shingle beach, lots of bars & restaurants.
Antisamos - spectacular looking beach as you approach from high up, white pebbles, beach bar.
Myrtos - most photographed on the Island because of the vivid turquoise blue waters and white sand, waters can be dangerous at times with under currents, seabed slopes quickly, keep an eye on the kids!
Makris Gialos, Lassi - Main beach is lively, beach bar, watersports, or another cove around the corner which is quieter & has 2 bars.
